Battlefield 3: The Pinnacle of Boredom

Image
When one stays away from a game for a long time the feelings one has towards it may soften or even fade away. This may lead one to wonder, " what was so bad or great about that game? " I was a teenager when I played Battlefield 3 and while I felt (and still feel) the multiplayer is a good time I remembered hating the single-player for BF3. But it had been almost 10 years since I last played through BF3's campaign and I could hardly remember why I hated it. On top of this I've been seeing people demand a remaster of this game, which made me feel like I had been too harsh towards this game seeing as how other folks obviously loved it. So after playing Fire Emblem 7, I decided to use BF3 as a palette cleanser. Taking the words of LateNightGaming into mind when talking about Call of Duty, "Think of it like being an actor in an action movie." It didn't help and to understand why, it's best that I go through step by painful step. Suffer with me. ...

EA's Star Wars Battlefront II in 2019

Image
Ah Star Wars , I've loved this franchise since I was a boy, I saw Episode II when I was 5 and was enthralled by namely the final battle of the movie with the desert and all the lasers and the explosions and the starships. Movie has aged poorly now but it got my foot in the door to being a Star Wars fanatic, I played the Jedi Knight and Rogue Squadron games on Gamecube, the Battlefront and Republic Commando games on Xbox, and watched the Star Wars Clone Wars Animated series from 2003. Overtime though I fell out with the series, haven't read the new books, don't play the mobile game, only watched the 2008 The Clone Wars Animated Series. Just haven't been in love with Star Wars since at least 2010. So when Star Wars Battlefront II from EA dropped I just sorta slept on it, but in Winter 2018 it was $10 on Origin so I picked it up. I know this game has a lot of hate, I jumped on it too when it dropped at first; but I saw the new movies so I was interested in the...

007 Nightfire Retro Review

Image
We all know 007 Goldeneye for the Nintendo 64, a revolutionary shooter for it's time with a decent singleplayer and great multiplayer. But what some might not realize is that Goldeneye wasn't James Bond's only FPS adventure, he had plenty of them in later years going from N64 all the way to Wii U. But one always stuck out to me, 007 Nightfire on the Nintendo Gamecube, this was actually a game I grew up with, playing it on a little CRT my Mom had in her office. But it's also been almost 16 years since then, does Nightfire hold up or is this Bond adventure dead in the water? First off, Nintendo Gamecube through HDMI on a generic upscaler looks like ass, if you have the game and a decent PC you're better off emulating, which is how I did it. There are HDMI solutions and I intend to give them a shot but given space in my area is limited and that shit costs $150 anyway, Dolphin it is. Nightfire is still set in the Pierce Brosnan era of Bond so if you're ...

How We Reached the Apex

Image
Apex Legends, it's the game everyone and their grandmother is playing these day's it seems. EA and Respawn Entetainment's newest Battle Royale shooter has come to take the world by storm and take on Fortnite while Tetris 99 sits in the background, waiting. Personally I like Apex, play it once a day; I like the emphasis on teamwork, the colorful cast (I'm a Gibraltar main, how about you?), the solid movement mechanics, and the gunplay. Now I won't go into how Apex tapped into a cultural zeitgeist to go at Fortnite's jugular. But I wanna go over how we got to Apex, what lead to it, and how rich Apex's legacy truly is. Now, many people know that Apex is a semi-sequel/spinoff to Titanfall but what some might not know is the legacy goes even further than two bitchin mecha shooters from 2014 and 2016. Indeed Apex inherited a rich legacy from all the way back in 90's. Around that time, the people who would go onto found Respawn, Jason West and Vince Zamp...
